Notes from an Overweight Starving Artist recounts the non-adventures of a

and desolate industrial estates he contemplates art, the state of society and
asks the big questions...Did God really have a beard? What does electricity
tastes like? And most importantly...why is it that even on a diet composed
entirely of stale white bread and cup of soups from an unemployment centres
vending machine is he still unable to lose weight?

PEOPLE I SECRETLY DREW IN THE JOB CENTRE
Jacob Louis Beaney
2016
A5
32 pages

The following zine contains drawings from my sketchbook I did while I was signing on.
I approached it like a wildlife documentary film-maker, hiding behind artificial foliage
in the job centre drawing the unemployed in their natural habitat. I often did these
drawings in secret, quickly, trying to avoid eye contact for fear of getting beat up or
having to talk to someone who's unemployed, which is worse.

WARNING: Contains a scathing inditement on the British welfare system.

This book is about the time I left art school, and having no money
had to move back home and stay with my ex-addict, ex-con, bi-polar
uncle. In it I struggle to make art while signing on in a deprived
seaside town under the austerity of a philistine Conservative
government.

It features a range of subjects including: CLASS, THE DOLE, ECCENTRIC
RELATIVES, SCULPTURES MADE FROM DOG EXCREMENT, GRAVY, MODEL VILLAGES,
MERMAIDS, REPTILIAN CONSERVATIVE POLITICIANS.

A HISTORY OF MY FATNESS
Jacob Louis Beaney
2014
A5
32 pages

A History of My Fatness is the classic tale of a boy who was thin

but then got fat, who then got thin again but then got fat, who

then got thin and then became grotesquely obese. It's based upon

my own struggle with weight and addiction to fried chicken. This

comic is particularly good for people who can read but also like

looking at pictures.
